What should you include with a core drilling request?
Project location, number of holes, approximate diameter, concrete thickness if known, floor/wall/overhead orientation, access conditions, project timing, scanning status, and available plans or photographs.
Should concrete be scanned first?
In many existing structures, scanning can provide useful information about reinforcing steel, post-tension systems, conduit or other embedded conditions before a penetration location is finalized.
Core drilling vs. ordinary drilling
Core drilling is used for controlled circular penetrations, often larger than ordinary anchor or fastener holes. The appropriate method depends on opening size, concrete construction, access and project requirements.
Jobsite conditions matter
Indoor work, occupied facilities, overhead drilling, water/slurry management, silica controls, access restrictions and production environments can all affect how a provider plans the work.
